Post Care Do's and Don'ts

I take great care to protect your skin during your appointment, but it is important that you continue to look after the sugared area for the next few days to prevent any unwanted side effects.

Be sure to keep the sugared area clean. Avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Please note: slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first sugaring experience. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 to 48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Washing with cool or lukewarm water
Wearing clean, loose fitting clothing
Hot baths or showers
Swimming, saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms
Tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or spray tans)
Exercise (sports, gym or other exercise)
Touching the sugared skin with unwashed hands
Deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products

See You in 4-5 weeks

Most people start to notice a small amount of re-growth after a week or so, but it may take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results. To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend regular treatments every 4 to 5 weeks.

Tempting, I know, but please do not shave the area between your appointments as this messes with the natural growth cycles, and you’ll be left with stubble.

The 411: Ingrown Hairs

Ingrown hairs occur when a new hair can’t break through the surface of the skin and curls back into the pore instead, often resulting in a spot. Shaving and sugaring can exacerbate the situation, but help is at hand.

Starting a few days after your appointment, gently scrub the skin 3 times a week using a loofah or exfoliating mitt. Also moisturize the area every day, which will keep the skin supple and help new hairs to break through. It only feels girlie until you get your first ingrown, trust me.

If extra ‘oomph’ is required, PFB Vanish is my personal choice for preventing and treating ingrown hairs. It works by chemically exfoliating the skin to free those pesky locks and also helps to soothe irritation from waxing and shaving, anywhere on the body. As luck would have it, we just so happen to sell this little beauty at the salon. Call or email if you want a bottle mailed out to you.
